R&D...

This keeps us abreast of new technologies and we are able to pass this on to our customers.

Our favourite R&D story

In the company’s beginning years, an exhausted truck driver had just made a delivery of plastic resin to PLASTICOR and realizing it was a plastics manufacturer, came in to the office and asked to see someone who would help him. The president of the company who happened to be nearby and thinking the truck driver was asking for help in finding directions quickly pulled out a map. “no, no, no,, “ the truckdriver said, “I need something made in plastic..”

He was carrying a small paper bag and from it he gently pulled out a huge bar of soap in which were carved out indentations and orifices with nails protruding from different angles. Fascinated, the president sat down with him to inspect his soap carved prototype which he had done at truck rest stops on his long road trips between the United States and Canada. The bar of soap was the truckdriver’s prototype. With PLASTICOR’s R&D involvement, that truckdriver’s “need to make something in plastic” turned out to be a still popular product today - a multifaceted electric plug designed to save space.

Where is the truckdriver today? He’s indulging in his favourite past-time - island hopping around the Carribean.

This R&D story was 20 some years ago - PLASTICOR continues to do the necessary R&D so that customers’ products can be realized.
